Based in the Cleveland, Ohio area, SMC Interior Design is a full-service interior and exterior design firm with expertise in both residential and commercial projects. SMC Design was established in the mid-90’s by Shelly Cipriani, who has become a prominent expert in the industry. SMC Design combines extraordinary talent and global experiences to create spaces, nationally and worldwide. Shelly brings 20 years of experience and a lifetime of creativity to each project to create warm, diverse, and functional interiors. Drawing inspiration from history, art, and nature, she enjoys sharing her love of beautiful things with her clients.

Shelly comes from a fine arts background. She began her career in commercial art and set design. Shelly transitioned her career from set design to a more lucrative career in interior design. After raising her three boys, Shelly dedicated her time to starting her own Interior Design firm. Over the years her design work has been featured in numerous trade and international publications. Shelly is passionate about Historic Renovations, currently working on her dream project located in the South of France.

Up Close: When Shelly isn’t at the studio you will most likely find her in the garden. Shelly also loves to spend her free time painting and creating memories with her family. She is an international traveler and art lover, finding inspiration everywhere she goes.

Avery Frankel

Avery is a passionate, forward-thinking interior designer who focuses on enriching the lives of others through tactfully designed environments. The functionality and ease of daily life combined with her love of art drive her creative process. Avery thrives at problem solving and finds opportunity in the unique situations that each job presents. Avery has been a part of SMC Design since August of 2016.

Up Close: Outside of work Avery is busy keeping up with her growing family. She loves spending summer days on Lake Erie, skiing in the winter, and attending sporting events and concerts.

Brittany Davis

Brittany’s passion for interior design roots in her excitement for constantly learning new things. She strongly believes that in this field there is something new to be learned every single day whether that is learning about a new client, following new trends, studying the history of design, or even new skills. Her favorite learning experience has been traveling around Europe to study Gothic and Renaissance Architecture. Brittany’s goal is to get to know clients on a personal level in order to successfully create their home both functionally and creatively.

Up Close: When Brittany isn’t at work she is most likely snuggling up with her dog Toby. Brittany also loves to spend time with her family, often times taking road trips across the country. Her family has been to 49 states so far, and hope to check Alaska off very soon.

LIBBY CIPRIANI

Growing up with creative parents, Libby has always had a strong interest in design and math. Libby is an interior architecture designer with a focus on how the built environment affects the way we inhabit spaces and the mood it creates. She has a passion for saving historic buildings and their elements, while also has an interest in exploring modern ideas and designs. Throughout her studies in Italy, Libby has gained an immense amount of knowledge on different design styles throughout the world as well as gained countless of inspirational experiences.

Up Close: When she isn’t working, Libby is usually reading a book with Buster or traveling with her friends and family. She is a strong believer that travel is the best way to learn new ideas and gain inspiration, specifically in architecture and art.

Buster helps by greeting visitors and sniff-testing new clients. Buster contributes a very detailed eye for design. He believes it is very important to feel every fabric and carpet sample before ordering it for a client’s new space.
